Women are often told their symptoms are normal long before anyone measures anything.
Tiredness, heavy or irregular periods, mood changes, hair thinning, trouble conceiving — all of these have possible answers in blood, and most of them can be checked from home.
The trick is testing the right things, at the right point in your cycle.
Timing matters more than you'd think
Hormones like FSH, LH, oestradiol and progesterone change across the month. Day 3 tells you about ovarian reserve; around day 21 tells you whether you ovulated.
Iron is the most common miss
Monthly blood loss makes low ferritin very common. It's one of the biggest causes of persistent fatigue in women and it's easily missed by a basic GP panel.
Thyroid changes often show up first
Thyroid conditions are far more common in women, and they affect cycles, weight, mood and fertility. TSH plus thyroid hormones gives you the full picture.
Perimenopause is a moving target
A single hormone result can be misleading during perimenopause. Testing alongside your symptoms — and repeating it — is what makes it useful.
What should you do if these sound familiar?
You don't need a diagnosis to want the data. Plenty of women test simply to understand what their body is doing.
Our women's panels cover hormones, fertility, thyroid, iron and general health, with clear results you can take to your GP if you need to.
